George Mason Lodge is a purpose built three storey home that can accommodate 39 residents. It is situated in a quiet residential street close to Leytonstone tube station with good links to local bus routes. The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission to support people over the age of 65 and specialises in providing care to people living with dementia, and physical ailments associated with old age.
The unit on the ground floor is the short stay unit and accommodates a maximum of nine residents. There is a small team of care staff who work on this unit only and are highly skilled in enabling residents with the whole emphasis of people returning to their own homes if at all possible. The bedrooms on this unit are single occupancy with ensuite facilities.
There are four units on the upper two floors, with each unit comprising of seven or eight bedrooms. All of the bedrooms are single room accommodation and have access to shared toilet and bathing facilities as well as to communal dining/lounge areas. There is also a lounge available for residents to meet with visitors.
The home has large grounds at the back of the building with raised beds and a greenhouse area. There are a number of comfortable seating areas for residents to use in the outdoor space.
The home provides a varied programme of activities which residents are encouraged to take part in. A hairdresser visits and a reasonable charge is made for this.
