Most tenants of private landlords who claim Housing Benefit get Local Housing Allowance (LHA). The LHA rate is based on:
- where you live

Single people under 35
If you’re single, under 35, and live in private housing, your Housing Benefit is limited to the market rent for one room.
This is called the shared accommodation rate.
