How to correct a record
If there is an error on your certificate, you will need to apply to the General Register Office (GRO) to have this changed using the forms in each section.
There is a charge of £83 for a correction. If the correction has to be sent to the GRO for approval, the charge is £99.
Please return your completed application form and original supporting documents to the Register Office at Leytonstone or Walthamstow Library. We will check the form, certify original documents and take the card payment depending on the type of amendment required.
