Animal Welfare Act 2006 and Performing Animals (Regulation) Act 1925
The welfare of performing animals is covered by the general provisions in the Animal Welfare Act 2006. The training and exhibition of performing animals is further regulated by the Performing Animals (Regulation) Act 1925. This requires trainers and exhibitors of such animals to be registered with the local authority.
Nobody who wants to use animals to perform within Waltham Forest can do so without a licence from us. This will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the act and is subject to any further conditions specified in the licence.
Applications must include details about the animals and the performances they'll take part in.
See a summary of licence regulations on the Office of Public Sector Information website.
