Waltham Forest has been formally twinned with Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica since 1999. An active Twinning Association meets in the Town Hall on a monthly basis and each year the Mayor takes on the role as Patron.

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has declared a State of Emergency and all efforts in the next few days will be concentrating on sourcing emergency relief for Barbuda. The islands are also bracing themselves for the next storm, Hurricane Jose, which is expected to hit over the weekend. 14 people have died and this number is expected to rise.
