Call out for Waltham Forest musicians

Waltham Forest Borough of Culture is looking for local musicians to work with acclaimed artists Addictive TV to create a special video celebrating the rich musical diversity of Waltham Forest as part of the opening event Welcome to the Forest in January 2019.

The chosen musicians will be filmed performing outside their homes and at iconic landmarks across the borough for the music video. The recordings will then be sampled to create a brand new collaborative piece of music that will be performed live by the duo.

The project builds on Addictive TV’s incredible Orchestra of Samples project, which features recordings from more than 200 artists across the world in 30 countries.

Every artist who takes part will not only see their work featured as part of the launch event, but will be included in Addictive TV’s extensive encyclopaedic-style blog.

Whether you’re a rapper, singer or classical musician, Addictive TV want to hear from you. Email your details and a YouTube link of you performing to by 30 September.

You do not need to be a professional musician to apply and Addictive TV are looking for people who play instruments from all cultural backgrounds – from North African ouds and Indian tablas to West African djembes and South American flutes!

The London Borough of Culture’s opening event will take place in January. More details about the commissions, including a collaboration between Mercury Prize winner Talvin Singh and local musicians, can be found here.
