Cllr Ahsan Khan, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: “Like the residents of this wonderful, tolerant borough, I was horrified to hear the homophobic abuse shouted by one lone bigot during the otherwise excellent Pride parade in July. I am pleased that Jamila Choudhury admitted her guilt and how ashamed of her actions she was, and I welcome the court’s judgment.

“I am proud to serve such a diverse and welcoming borough, where everyone can enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life. We are working with partners across the community and our residents to build an even safer borough where all are free to make the most of their life chances.”
