Cllr Ahsan Khan, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Voluntary Sector, has made the following statement following the shooting in Leyton on Sunday morning:
“It is with heavy hearts that we see another person has lost their life in a senseless shooting incident in Leyton this weekend. Another family and friendship group has been devastated by this needless violence – this cannot go on. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
“We work closely with the police to provide a visible presence in the community. Increased joint patrols will take place so that residents can feel reassured and ask questions they may have. Please do not hesitate to approach Neighbourhoods teams as they will be happy to assist.
“Two men have been arrested and remain in custody while the police continue to investigate. We will support the police in their investigation and urge any members of the community with information to please come forward.”
