Consultation: Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) affecting northern wards in the borough

2 August 2019
Town Hall

I would like to encourage you to take part in an important consultation regarding our proposal to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in Chingford.

In 2017, we introduced a PSPO in the south of the borough. The PSPO has proved to be invaluable in providing council officers and police officers with additional powers to tackle street-based Anti-Social Behaviour in this area.

For the past six months, we have spent a lot of time engaging with residents, businesses, local councillors and the police service to evidence the case for a PSPO to be introduced in Chingford to address the ASB that residents and businesses are currently experiencing.

We believe that we have now established a strong evidence base to support a new PSPO but we need to hear your views before proceeding.

The consultation questionnaire is intended to capture your views on a range of important issues, including:

  • Whether you agree or disagree that a PSPO is necessary in Chingford
  • Whether you agree or disagree that the area included in any introduced PSPO should include the whole of Chingford
  • Whether you agree or disagree with the activities that are proposed would be prohibited under any introduced PSPO in Chingford

I am already aware of the significant numbers of reported incidences of street-based ASB that are happening on the streets of Chingford. I would therefore urge as many people to respond to this consultation exercise to give their views regarding the proposed introduction of a new PSPO to combat such issues.

Take part in the consultation survey

Best wishes
