The Council and Capital and Regional have donated to the RetailTRUST. This is a trade charity for people working in retail. It provides grants to employees experiencing financial hardship, due to the fire and the closure of The Mall. If you have reduced your workforce or their hours of work directly as a result of the fire, then please refer affected employees to www.myrtwellbeing.org.uk/financial-support/walthamstow-appeal where they can apply for a hardship grant.
Similarly, the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust, a UK charity providing grants to the children of fashion and textile employees, has set-up a fund for those employed in fashion retail who have been financially affected as a result of the fire.
The Steps into Work service has removed its usual eligibility requirements and is available to help find alternative work for anyone (regardless of where they live or how long they have been unemployed), who has lost their job as a result of the fire.
We would be grateful if you could circulate this information to all employees affected.
