  • The Care Act 2014 requires local authorities to ensure that information and advice on care and support and related areas is available to all when they need it.
  • The information and advice service should also address prevention of care and support needs, finances, health, housing and employment, what to do in cases of abuse or neglect of an adult and other areas where required.
  • High quality, up to date, reliable and effective information and advice empowers people to make good choices about their social care needs and their health and wellbeing and the needs of those they care for or support.

An overview of who the service is for, what is should include, and how it should be delivered is available below.
