Leyton stabbing: Statement from Leader of the Council Clare Coghill

The leader of the Council, Cllr Clare Coghill, has made the following statement to the community following the fatal stabbing in Leyton on Wednesday 6 March.

“I know that everyone in the community will share my shock and sadness at hearing this tragic news.  A life has been lost, and another family is mourning the death of a loved one.

"At this stage, this incident does not appear to be gang related. We are working closely with colleagues in the local police to make sure they and Neighbourhood Officers are visible on the ground amongst the community to provide reassurance and support during this difficult time. 

"If anyone has any information, please don’t hide: make sure you contact the police – anonymously if necessary – and share what you know.”
