Summer has arrived, and we are committed to making the holidays an unforgettable experience with a great range of fun, free activities for young residents to enjoy.
Waltham Forest Council’s Summer Holiday Activities Programme offers free daily activities and events for the whole family delivered by local organisations across the borough, running between Monday 29 July and Friday 23 August.
Cllr Clare Coghill, Leader of the Council, said: “We are all too aware that finding activities and the money to keep children entertained at this time of year can be a challenge.
“As part of the council’s commitment to helping families, our Holiday Activities Programme aims to provide opportunities for all children, young people and families to take part in fun and engaging activities that will enable hidden talents and interests to be found, helping young residents to make the most of their life chances.”
Children between 5 and 11 years old can get involved in many different workshops and activities including theatre, cinema, tea parties, music, crafts sessions and sports. The activities are led by Waltham Forest Play Workers and are designed for children to learn new skills whilst having fun and making new friends.
Activities for children between 5 and 11 years old don’t require booking, attendees can just come along on the day.
Additionally, we will offer a free hot meal to children taking part in the activities at George Tomlinson Primary School, Greenleaf Primary School, Chapel End Infants School, Handsworth Primary School and Edinburgh Primary School.
Our beautiful parks across the borough offer a great alternative for the little ones with fun play equipment and the amazing Hackney Playbus to get children between 0 and 8 years old involved in games and activities.
Young people between 11 and 19 years old can also participate in a wide range of free exciting activities, including acting, young entrepreneurs’ workshops, canoeing, hockey, music-making, cooking classes, graffiti arts and much more. Booking is essential so we suggest reserving a spot as early as possible, to avoid disappointment.
All activities for teenagers between 11 and 19 years old are inclusive for people with Special Education Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) up to 25 years old.
