Who can apply?

Temporary one month resident permits are for:

  • new residents who need to update vehicle ownership documents, or
  • current residents who may be using a vehicle temporarily

If you are updating ownership documents we will expect you to have obtained the relevant documents by the time the temporary permit expires. Once you apply for a full annual resident permit, you will need to pay for this separately from the cost of the temporary permit.

Please note: there is a limit of one temporary resident permit per vehicle per household per annum.

Permits are single vehicle specific and not transferable between vehicles.

Permits are now virtual which means there's no need to display a permit in your vehicle. Civil enforcement officers can check which vehicles have a valid permit using the vehicle registration number.

How much do temporary one month residents parking permits cost?

Vehicles that were first registered before 1 March 2001 are charged according to the engine size (CCs) and vehicles registered after 1st March 2001 are charged according to its emission category (g/km).

Engine cylinder capacity (CC) / CO2 emission (g/km)Resident one month temporary permit
Up to 100g/km £50.00
101 to 170g/km or up to 1549cc£65.00
over 171g/km or 1549cc £215.00

Refund fees

No refunds or changes can be made to a temporary permit

Zero CO2 emissions

The council reserves the right to check applications for vehicles with zero CO2 emissions.

DVLA records may say your vehicle has zero emissions when it actually isn’t a zero emissions vehicle. The only zero emissions vehicles currently on the market are full electric vehicles (EV). Where this occurs, permit prices will be based on vehicle engine size.

We may apply additional price increases if incorrect information was provided at application stage.
