The regeneration of Priory Court is high on the Council’s agenda. Sixty Bricks Limited our Development Company, is currently working in conjunction with the Mayor of London on this project. The proposed scheme will include improved community facilities including brand new community centre, a 60-place pre-school nursery, and shops as well as a Multi-Use Games Area, tree and shrub planting and children’s’ play areas.

Under Section 105 of the Housing Act 1985, the Council has a legal obligation to consult its secure tenants on matters of housing management such as changes to the management, maintenance, improvement or demolition of houses let by them, or changes in the provision of amenities

Details of the full proposal

Section 105 of Housing Act 1985 the council intends to consult all secure tenants at Capri House, Devon House, Everglade House, Vermont House, Upshire House, Abbotts House, Balmoral House, Adelaide House and Washington House, Walthamstow, London, E17 about the demolition Priory Court

As this matter is likely to substantially affect secure tenants at these properties for the purposes of Section 105 of the Housing Act 1985.

The arrangements for this consultation are as follows:

On or around 2 January 2020 all secure tenants of

  • Capri House
  • Devon House
  • Everglade House
  • Vermont House
  • Upshire House
  • Abbotts House
  • Balmoral House
  • Adelaide House
  • Washington House

Walthamstow, London, E17 will be sent an information pack about the demolition of Priory Court. This information pack will summarise the issues involved and set out the Councils’ proposals. This pack will consist of a letter and associated drawing(s) e.g. a site location plan.

Secure tenants will be invited to make their views known to the Council via email or by writing to the Council at the addresses given in the information pack.

We will also invite views from the leaseholders within the flats, the nursery and shops as leases may need to be varied and notices served under the terms and conditions of the parking space licence agreements.

Secure tenants will have 28 days to make their views known to the Council.

Before making a final decision on this matter the Council will consider any representations made in accordance with these arrangements.

No later than 5pm on Monday 3 February 2020.

This Notice is published in accordance with Section 105(5) of the Housing Act 1985. A copy of this Notice is available for inspection at Waltham Forest Housing, The Magistrate, Town Hall Complex, E17 4NX between 9am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday. In addition, a copy of this Notice will be given to any member of the public who asks for one.
