Unheard Stories - Life Stories of Black Elders at North Chingford Library

Come along to North Chingford Library to see this free exhibition in celebration of the Windrush Generation.

They are the stories collected by Age UK of Black elders living in Waltham Forest, who either use the befriending service, or who volunteer as befrienders.

They are stories of Black people who came to Britain in the 1960s and 1970s from the Caribbean and other countries of the former British Empire.

They are stories of courage, resilience, triumphs, love, family and, above all, lives of hard, hard work.

They are stories of facing and overcoming racism and discrimination.

We honour and thank them for sharing these stories and for the huge, valuable contribution they have made to this country and our borough, and the thousands like them across the UK.
