We are Friends at Chingford Library
We are Friends in Libraries is at Chingford Library every Monday.
It's a weekly intergenerational storytelling program that brings older residents, under 5-year-olds, and their parents or guardians together through storytelling and singing songs. There’ll be puppets, instruments, colourful scarves, and bubbles, and you’ll all get a chance to create new friendships across the generations.
Intergenerational activities can reduce loneliness and social isolation, and boost mental well-being and self-confidence.
These sessions are part of the Council’s Best Start in Life offer which funds The Together Project (the national charity that boosts wellbeing, reduces loneliness, and fosters stronger, happier communities through joyful intergenerational activities) to deliver ‘We are Friends’ in collaboration with our Libraries service.
- are you a family with an under 5 who would like to come along and make friends with older people in the community?
- do you have an older relative or friend who might like to join you?
- are you an older person who would like to come along to the story and rhyme sessions with under 5 year olds?
- are you a care home that would like to bring some of your residents to meet the little ones?
If you answer yes to any of the questions, then book your place and come along to join the fun!
If you haven't already, give us a follow on Libraries Facebook, Libraries Instagram and Eventbrite.
This is a Best Start in Life weekly session. When you see Curious Carina you can expect play and learning sessions that will support your child’s learning and development.
