Volunteering is at the heart of communities in Waltham Forest and reflects the commitment of residents to help one another. There are lots of opportunities for residents to get involved in volunteering locally.

How can you get involved?

There are a variety of volunteering opportunities in Waltham Forest to suit all interests. These include looking after vulnerable residents, improving the local environment, and supporting the borough’s cultural events and activities.

You can register your interest and search for opportunities on our Legends of the Forest volunteering website.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering makes a huge difference to our communities and can support you to:

  • Gain confidence
  • Meet new people
  • Make a difference to your local community
  • Challenge yourself
  • Look after your mental health and take care of others
  • Spark new interests and learn new skills
  • Have fun!

Watch volunteers from Waltham Forest tell us about the difference volunteering has made for them.

The future of volunteering in Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest Council is committed to making sure volunteering continues to thrive in the borough.

We have worked with volunteers and communities to develop a new Volunteering Strategy which sets out our vision for the future of volunteering to make Waltham Forest the best place in London to volunteer.
