People who are at higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes are those who:
- Are Black or South Asian (more at risk if 25 years or older)
- Older (more at risk if over 40 years and white ethnicity)
- Have a family history of Type 2 Diabetes (parent, sibling)
- Are overweight or obese
- Have a history of high blood pressure
To protect yourself, you should adopt a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise) and know your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
