If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness and have support needs, you may want to consider living in supported housing. Supported housing can offer you care and support with your needs.

What is supported housing?

If you have a physical or mental impairment or illness, supported housing can help you to meet your needs with personalised support. It can be:

  • support to help you stay in your own home; or
  • new accommodation with additional care and support provided.

Supported housing aims to promote your well-being by supporting you to:

  • have control over your day to day life;
  • have personal dignity;
  • have physical and mental well-being;
  • protect you from abuse or neglect;
  • participate in education, training, work and social activities;
  • encourage family and personal relationships; and
  • ensure you live in suitable accommodation.

The care offered may be provided by Social Services or a private company.
