Who we are and what we do

Employment, Business and Skills (EBS) offers training through courses, workshops and projects to individuals, employers and businesses. In order to deliver this training, we collect and process personal information about you.

Information we hold about you

The information collected includes name, address, date of birth, national insurance number, residency and employment status. We also collect survey data, quotes, case studies and research data.

Purpose of processing personal data and how we use it

The training provided by EBS is mainly externally funded. Funders include the Department for Education (DfE) who is the data controller for personal data processed by the GLA (Greater London Authority) and ESFA (the Education and Skills Funding Agency). Your personal information is used by the DfE to exercise its functions and to meet its statutory responsibilities, including under the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 and to create and maintain a unique learner number (ULN) and a personal learning record (PLR).

We are the data controller under Data Protection law (Data Protection Act 2018) in respect of training provided by other funders as we collect and process personal information about individuals in order to provide services and meet our legal obligations.

In order to obtain the funding, the Council uses the personal data provided to complete mandatory individual learner returns which are sent to the funder via secure systems.

Other funders include ESF (the European Social Fund), DWP (the Department for Work and Pensions).

Data such as quotes, case studies, research and surveys is also collected and used internally for marketing purposes.
