What’s the job like?
- You will provide a front line/first call responsive grounds maintenance service
- You may be keeping communal areas clean and tidy, recording and reporting relevant information in accordance with company policies, procedures and service standards
- You could be providing a full ground maintenance service e.g. grass cutting, pruning, weeding, spraying etc. to various estates/properties
- You may be undertaking regular inspections as directed of communal areas, playground areas and playground equipment, noting and reporting Health and Safety breaches.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
Key skills include:
- Hard working
- Self motivated
- Reliable
- Friendly
- Positive attitude
- IT literary and driving licence may be desirable, but not essential
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
- Previous experience in grounds environment.
- Knowledge of relevant machinery.
- A strong customer focused approach.
- Be able to work without supervision.
- Be able to follow a schedule and work to deadlines.
- Good timekeeping and personal presentation skills.
- Ability to implement Health and Safety requirements to ensure safe working practices.

Grounds maintenance workers who have good communication skills may become crew leaders or advance into other supervisory positions. Becoming a manager or a landscape contractor may require some formal education and several years of related work experience. Some workers use their experience to start their own landscaping companies.
