Who we are and what we do
The Council’s Operations Centre department covers CCTV use across the Borough. Amongst other roles, it is also the hub that monitors antisocial behaviour, tracks weather warnings, engages emergency services and has been the reporting centre for incidents within the Borough.
In January 2022, the Cabinet agreed that the Council should develop an improved and enhanced approach to incident management. The introduction of a new system aims to better manage civil protection within the Borough and to this end a new software platform called Everbridge has been introduced for critical event management, to better serve residents during emergencies.

Information we hold about you
The new incident management platform means that accounts can be created for residents who call to report an incident or receive updates about an incident. This will only be done with your consent. The information needed to create an account is your name and contact information that you provide for notification purposes, for example, telephone number, email address, postal address.
Why we need your information and how we use it
The purpose of the new platform is so that the Council can improve how it manages critical and major incidents. We collect your personal data if you wish to be kept up to date by the Council about an incident in the borough. The platform allows council’s emergency team to create an account for you and provide relevant updates efficiently.
The only individuals with access to the system are the authorised personnel in the Control Centre.
The lawful basis for the processing
The lawful basis for processing the data is Article 6 (1)(a) consent under the UK GDPR.
For more details on the Lawful Basis see the ICO guidance.
Who your information will be shared with
The data is not shared outside the Council.
How long we will keep your information
Personal data used to create the account will be kept for 12 months after the last point of contact.
