Work is good for both physical and mental health and wellbeing. Access to employment and good working conditions can influence the health of a community. In 2021 to 2022, the number of people aged 16 to 64 in employment in Waltham Forest was 140,200, equivalent to 73.6% of the population. Waltham Forest's employment rate among 16 to 64-year-olds is below the national employment rate of 75.4% and the London rate of 75.2%.
