Kemelia, pictured above with her lovely mother, joined CRATE St James in 2023, bringing her brilliant fusion food to Walthamstow. Originally starting her Caribbean inspired business in 2019, Kemelia brings spicy and sweet flavours from the beautiful islands of Trinidad, Antigua and St Vincent.

Before she arrived in Crate St James, Kemelia delivered her business through pop-ups at Bohemia and Portobello Markets. We are thrilled to have her as a Crater and welcome you to give her a visit when you're next in the area.

We chatted with Kemelia to learn more:

So Kemelia, what is your favourite dish that you cook?

'My personal fave is Curry mutton and white rice - it’s the spice and texture for me. The customer's fave would be Jerk Chicken and rice and peas!'

Delicious. And what do you enjoy most about running your business from Crate St James?

'I most enjoy the opportunity of interacting with different customers and that feeling of joy when they return to tell me how much they enjoyed the food!'

And if you had to shout out one other business at Crate St James, who would it be?

'Big shout out to Irks at Scarred for life- he’s an amazing tattoo artist downstairs. He has a pure heart and it shows through his love for others!
