Connecting communities privacy notice

We are the Waltham Forest Council Community and Participation Team. We work with local Voluntary Sector organisations, faith and community groups, to support their work in the borough.

By submitting your information to us, you are consenting for Waltham Forest to process your signup data covered in the sections below of why we need your information and how we will use it.

The information we hold is:

• Organisation name
• Name
• Personal Email address (if you provided this when you subscribed to the mailing list)
• Organisation email address
• Organisation contact number
• Website
• Organisation Address
• Postcode
• Network area [area of operation within Waltham Forest]
• Short description of services provided 
• Types of work and resident groups served.

We only collect data that we need in order to support your VCS organisation or community group. We will only use personal data for the following purposes:

• To share information and opportunities which your organisation or community group may be interested in. This could include specific funding opportunities or service announcements.
• To add your email address/ addresses to our Connecting Communities Newsletter.
• For the purposes of service delivery, or in case of emergency, the Communities and Participation Team may get in touch with you using the contact information you have provided.
• Your data will be stored on Waltham Forest Council’s secure database with access restricted to Waltham Forest Council staff.
• You will be able to unsubscribe from direct communications from Waltham Forest Council at any time by emailing ConnectingCommunities@walthamforest.gov.uk.

The information we collect will only be accessible by Waltham Forest Council Officers. The information we collect, aside from anonymised/aggregated data, will not be shared externally. 

We will never share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes without your consent. We will never sell your information to third parties. 

Your personal data will be retained for as long as you consent to it being held.
