All final CIL charges are worked out by the CIL team using floor space measurements. This is under the guidelines set out by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Code of Measuring Practice: Gross Internal Area.

“Gross Internal Area is the area of a building measured to the internal face of the perimeter walls at each floor level”

This includes communal areas such as internal parking, hallways and corridors.
