You may feel a hedge belonging to someone else is restricting your view or blocking your sunlight.

If this is the case, there’s a few things you can do.

Information to read first

Read the government's guidance on how to settle hedge differences: Over the Garden Fence.

See the Planning Portal for information on making a high hedge complaint.

You should read this first, if you wish to make a formal complaint.

How to make a complaint

You should only contact us if other avenues have failed, such as talking or writing to the hedge owner.

We can judge whether the hedge is affecting your enjoyment of the property. However, we cannot mediate or negotiate for you.

If you want to make a high hedges complaint, there is a charge of £600, please use the online planning enforcement enquiry form and someone will contact you advising you on how to make a payment.
