Background
This new development at Sansom Road, Leytonstone was completed in October 2022. It provides new social homes for residents, replacing the existing ball park and car park.
What are the scheme details?
- New residential block containing 31 new homes.
- A mixture of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments, all for social rent.
- Three homes have been designed as fully accessible for wheelchair users.
- Landscaped communal garden
- Onsite secure cycle storage within the building for all residents.
- Two disabled parking bays for people with blue badges to use.
- Solar panels fitted on the roof to convert thermal energy into electricity for the development.
Who is the developer?
Sixty Bricks, the Council owned development company is responsible for managing this scheme. They provide homes across a range of tenures with a focus on increasing the supply of social rent housing.
Timeline:
- Autumn 2022: Scheme completed ready for residents to move in.
- November 2020: Some parking spaces suspended while tower crane arrives at site and is erected.
- August 2020: Piling rig delivered to start work on foundations. Some parking bays suspended.
- June 2020: Work restarts on site following closure due to COVID-19 pandemic.
- March 2020: Start on site.
- November 2019: Planning approval granted.
- August 2019: Notice served to stop using car park.
- June 2019: Planning application submitted, and statutory consultation takes place.
- January 2019: Greater London Authority approves grant funding of £100,000 per new home.
- July 2017: Waltham Forest Council’s Cabinet approved the principle of developing this site
