Helping residents to recycle more

You can recycle unwanted textiles or unwanted small electrical items by visiting 1 of our public recycling banks.

If you have 2 wheeled bins, you can place bags of clothes and shoes, bags of small electrical items on top of your 2 wheeled bin on the scheduled bin collection day for collection. Please do not use black bags when doing this as they will not be collected.

For more information on the additional item collection service and to see what other items we collect please visit Helping residents to recycle more.

Large electrical items

Large items such as TVs, monitors, washing machines and fridges mustn’t be left next to the banks. As all large electrical items can be either reused or recycled, the Council will no longer be collecting these items for disposal. You can book a collection with Service Store for a paid collection service of large electrical items or you can book a free collection of large electrical items with NLWA or you can book a visit to one of the three reuse and recycling centres in the borough.

Recycling batteries

There are battery recycling bins in all Waltham Forest libraries and at reuse and recycling centres.

All household batteries are accepted, including old laptop batteries and other types of portable batteries.

You can exchange car batteries with your retailer when you buy a new battery, or take it to a reuse and recycling centres.

Dual Street Litter bins

We provide dual street litter bins - one side is for recycling and one is for rubbish. They are conveniently located outside stations, by bus stops and on our busy streets in Waltham Forest.

Make sure you only place the following items materials in the recycling compartment of the bin.
