The Early Help Service works with other professionals, parents and carers to get involved early when families need more support. The aim is to address problems as early as possible before they can escalate. It also aims to enable families to support their children to reach their full potential.

WF Parenting Programmes

The Early Help Service offers monthly parenting programmes across the Borough. They provide trained and experienced course trainers who work with host schools. They give parents all the tools and confidence they need to parent their children more effectively, manage challenging behaviour and support their children's education.

Cygnet programme

A parenting support programme for parents and carers of children and young people aged 7 to 18 with an autistic spectrum condition. It is delivered by experienced Educational Psychologists and is funded by the local authority.

Ed Psych Drop-ins

The Educational Psychology Service provides free monthly parent/carer consultation sessions. These sessions address any concerns they might have about their child/ young person.

Social Care

If you need help caring for your child or are concerned about a child's welfare or safety, you will need to contact Children’s Early Help Social Care Services. The way that you do this is the same for disabled children and children who are not disabled.

All Referrals to Children’s Social Care are first dealt with by the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).

Supporting the emotional health of the family

If your children are at nursery/school/post-16 placement, make time to do something for you. Your child/young person may also be eligible for Short Breaks. Short Breaks give parents a chance to spend time away from a child with SEND. It also gives the child the opportunity to have fun.
