The licensing of petrol filling stations and other commercial petrol storage facilities in London is carried out by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.

We do not licence petrol stations. However, our Trading Standards service can help if you are concerned about petrol stations whose pumps may calculate amounts of petrol and/or prices incorrectly.

Petrol filling stations register

The keeping of petrol must meet the conditions attached to a licence issued under the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1928. When a licensed inspector visits a petrol filling station, the aim is to ensure standards are observed, and, where necessary, improved.
