Air pollution is recognised as a serious public health issue in many urban areas. A recent Mayor of London report estimated that over 9,000 Londoners died prematurely from long-term exposure to air pollution in 2010.

As a local authority, we have a duty to monitor and assess air quality in Waltham Forest. Where air quality objectives are being achieved, we must act to address the issues.
