What your council tax pays for

Do you know what your council tax monthly payments help to pay for? It's a question we get asked a lot, and we want to make sure every resident understands how they are helping to keep Waltham Forest moving. 

Council Tax payments help to pay for things such as: 

• 300 children and young people being looked after in a fostering environment or an alternative home at any one time 
• 3,403 adults supported by Adult Social Services 
• 2,500 local businesses receiving support 
• 218,000 monthly bin collections 
• 5,415 potholes filled 
• 14,000 anti-social behaviour reports investigated 

This is just a variety of things that Council Tax helps to pay for.
