About the scheme

Waltham Forest Council has secured funding as part of the Coronation square and Score Centre redevelopment to make improvements to the area that will better connect the development to the local community, Leyton Station and existing amenities on High Road Leyton.

Our aim is to make it easier and safer for local people to get around by active and sustainable modes of travel such as public transport, walking, cycling and wheeling. We also want to improve the look and feel of the area and make the area greener and healthier.

In the past, the local community has raised some concerns about the speed and volume of traffic using Lyttleton Road, York Road, Dunedin Road and Adelaide Road. Therefore, we’d like to hear from people living within this area to understand if there are any traffic and road safety issues that need to be addressed. We’d also like to know if here are any other improvements local people would like to see to make the area look and feel better and help people move around safer and more easily.

Consultation and engagement

To help us understand how people feel about this area, we will be running an online perception survey between 17 June 2024 and 8 July 2024

The short survey should only take five minutes to complete and asks questions about how local people travel, their thoughts on road safety and volume of traffic, as well as any other changes or improvements people think are needed across the area.

A leaflet was delivered to all residents living on Lyttelton Road, York Road, Dunedin Road and Adelaide Road on Monday 17 June 2024 to make residents aware of the scheme. You can view the leaflet in the useful documents list at the bottom of this page.

You can take part in the survey by visiting Dunedin area improvements

We’ll also be out in the area with our pop-up marquee to remind local people to get involved in the survey. Come and visit us on 26 June 2024 between 11am and 2pm, in Coronation Gardens (High Road Leyton side) to collect a hard copy survey or to ask us questions about the survey.

Spread the word

We want to hear from as many residents as possible to make sure we understand how most people feel about where they live and why. This includes people who have a disability, are less mobile, care for people with disabilities, and parents and carers of children.

Therefore, we kindly ask that local people share the survey details, with neighbours to make sure everyone is aware of the project and how to get involved.

Next steps

When the survey has ended, we’ll look at all the responses received, and develop a plan based on improvements that have been suggested.

Once we have developed an initial design we will invite local people to take part in a public consultation on the plans later in the year.

We’ll aim to write to residents with more information on the results of the perception survey and the next steps by the autumn.
