Moving with others

There are lots of ways to get moving across the borough. If you want to try a new way of moving, why not do it with others and have fun with friends, or use it as an opportunity to make new ones. 

Walking

  • Feel Good Walks are open to anyone to join and are free, providing a great way to get out and about, with the chance to meet new people and explore beautiful green spaces
  • Walk and Talk CIC creates a space to talk and catch up, followed by a walk or low intensity activity
  • Lbs 4 Peace is guided walking sessions and holistic health discussions for women
  • Salaam Peace run a weekly leisurely walking group, open to everyone over 18+ but targeted at those over 50
  • Walthamstow Parkrun is free, fun, and friendly, running as a weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate
  • Age UK History Walks are weekly gentle paced group walks, offering the chance to learn about local history 
  • Waltham Forest Living Streets hold monthly Wellbeing Walks, starting at Fellowship Square

Swimming

  • Mamma Swim is a peer-led community of mums who childcare swap, giving them the opportunity to take time out to swim, building confidence and strength in all areas of their lives
  • Waltham Forest Feel Good Centre run swimming lessons for children and adults, and free swimming for eligible residents 

Cycling

  • JoyRiders help women gain confidence through riding a bike. Their rides are fun and social, empowering women to feel comfortable to ride independently
  • Cycle Sisters is a club that enables and inspires Muslim women to cycle in a fun, supportive and empowering environment 
  • Salaam Peace offer cycling lessons tailored to different competency levels to help build bike confidence
  • Bikeworks All Ability Cycling Clubs are designed for people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities, people with health conditions and carers, to enjoy cycling by accessing an exciting range of adapted cycles 

Dancing

  • The Blair Academy breaks the traditional mould of what exercise means for older people through innovating and exciting Hip-Hop sessions 
  • Mbilla Arts host African drumming classes and workshops, combining the exploration of rhythm, movement, song, storytelling and visual arts 
  • Bollywood Dance Classes that focus on mindfulness and movement for women and non-binary participants 

Group classes 

  • Better Leisure Centres offer a range of classes and activities to get you moving, including sponge ball, badminton, table tennis and seated exercise classes
