Meet Rose, Community Health Champion
Community Health Champions are volunteers who support our community to be healthier, and more active and connect the community to local services. Our Community Health Champions have open conversations about health and wellbeing, support activities, and signpost people to health and wellbeing support they may need.
Rose, one of our Community Health Champions, shares her volunteering experience.
“I volunteer because I think health is important to our wellbeing. I enjoy promoting physical and social activities to improve an individual’s lifestyle. I get a lot of satisfaction from being a Waltham Forest Community Health Champion because their services meet the needs of children, young people, and adults. I am proud of my borough and volunteered for Waltham Forest at the Olympic Games.
“I enjoy my volunteering opportunities and find it a wonderful experience being a part of the Community Health Champions team at events in the borough, that make people aware of the services, facilities, and resources in Waltham Forest. Activities include weekly walks and chair exercise sessions, nutrition workshops, Community Living Rooms Days, and we are presently doing drum workshops, and all these activities are free. I am a Pride of Waltham Forest nominee for community volunteering.”
