Our neighbourhoods: Meet Ian

We spoke to local residents to find out why they love their local neighbourhood, what makes them proud to live here and what they’d like to be improved.

Ian has lived in the Church Road area for over 30 years.

A good neighbourhood has to have good transport links and easy, accessible green space

“I live quite close to Leyton Jubilee Park, and from there I can walk to the Hackney Marshes. I’m not far from the Olympic Park and all its facilities. I can get to either the Central Line or the Victoria Line relatively easy.

My neighbourhood feels safe, central, and has great connections to the city, the docklands, the airport, it’s easy to get all over London and beyond. That connectivity is really important – it’s important for work and if I want to do any volunteering. If I want to get here or there I can, just wherever the opportunities are. I do quite a bit of volunteering for sports events and appreciate that the Olympic Park and Lea Valley are nearby.

A good neighbourhood has to have good transport links and easy, accessible green space. My area could have fewer betting shops and fast food shops, but I’m not sure what else there is to look for – there are parks and facilities within reach all over.”
