Rent revolution begins at Leytonstone Library of Things
Waltham Forest resident Maja wasted no time snapping up an item in the newly opened Leytonstone Library of Things.
She was the first person to borrow something since its launch at the start of March.
Maja lives 20 minutes away from Leytonstone Library and she headed down on launch day to pick up the multi-cutter that she had reserved online.
Maja said, “I saw a post about the Library of Things on a local neighbourhood Facebook group. It’s fantastic to have access to a range of items that most people don’t have at home because this is a sustainable and affordable way of getting a project done or trying a new activity.
“As well as being good for the environment and saving money, it means I don’t have to clutter my home with tools I’d only use once or twice.”
What can I borrow?
There are more than 30 items in the Leytonstone Library of Things.
These include tools to help with DIY projects, such as power tools, a carpet cleaner or a steam cleaner.
But there are other items for one-off use, such as a PA and mic system, a party kit and a waffle maker.
You can browse the full list on the Library of Things website.
How do I do it?
Browse the website, select your item and if it’s available, you can reserve it online.
Then, head to Leytonstone Library with your code and use the self-service kiosk to unlock the locker and collect the item.
