A general election is an opportunity for people in every part of the UK to choose their MP. This person will represent a local area (constituency) in the House of Commons for up to 5 years.
Waltham Forest has 3 Notices of Election for 3 constituencies:
- Chingford and Woodford Green
- Leyton and Wanstead

- the place and times at which nomination papers can be delivered, and at which nomination papers may be obtained

- Dissolution of Parliament, Thursday 30 May 2024.
- Publication of Notice of Election, Friday 31 May 2024.
- Delivery of nomination papers opens from 10am on Monday 3 June 2024. Nomination papers can be delivered between 10am and 4pm each day that week, up to 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024.
- The deadline for receiving applications to register to vote, if not already registered, is Tuesday 18 June 2024.
- The deadline to apply for a postal vote and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes, 5pm Wednesday 19 June 2024.
- The deadline to apply for a proxy vote, not postal proxies or emergency proxies, 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
- The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate, a free form of voter ID, 5pm Wednesday 26 June 2024.
In person polling will take place from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 4 July 2024.
